Temenos Honors Leading Customer Achievements in 2018 Customer Awards
Nordea, KBC Group, Pepper, ME Bank, Alawwal Bank, Banesco, Seychelles Credit Union are this year’s winners
Temenos Community Forum, Dublin, Ireland – May 24, 2018 – Temenos (SIX: TEMN), the banking software company, today announced the winners of this year’s Temenos Customer Awards. The awards recognize the Temenos clients who are technology pioneers and are making fundamental changes to their IT platforms to ensure that they better serve their customers in the digital age.

Chairman’s Award – Nordea
Nordea has been recognized for executing on its digital vision and for shaping its business model accordingly. The winner of this award appreciates that a digital journey must include core banking modernization to be truly effective. Nordea is progressively renovating its systems end-to-end, to offer the compelling, personalized digital experience customers expect. They have made considerable progress in recent months and are now live in Finland with over 750,000 customers operating their savings and term deposit accounts on the new platform powered by Temenos Transact software.
Award for Temenos Learning Community customer of the year – KBC Group
This award recognizes KBC Group who has shown true commitment to training. Specifically, Temenos would like to acknowledge KBC for truly embracing the purpose and potential of the Temenos Learning Community (TLC), and for understanding that the success of its digital transformation rests on the ability of its team to embrace new processes and new ways of thinking.
Award for digital innovation – Pepper
Pepper has been a true trailblazer being the first bank in Israel to launch a standalone, fully mobile bank.. With Temenos software, Pepper is offering a point of difference in the marketplace, revolutionizing the customer experience. Pepper has created an entirely mobile banking experience, from onboarding to performing transactions. The process of opening an account takes just minutes, after which customers obtain current account facilities and an active credit line directly to their phone. Pepper requires no current account fees and is built on a unique AI technology that helps customers better manage their finances and allows the bank to offer a more personalized banking experience.
Award for operational innovation – ME Bank
ME Bank has won this award for transforming its business since the financial crisis over a decade ago. The bank has seen sustained growth while honing its focus on mortgages, personal loans and retail deposits. It recently announced record profits which underline the strength of its new strategic course. From an operational standpoint, ME has seen its cost to income continue to fall through investments in new technology and scalable banking platforms including Temenos Transact Core Banking, which provides greater efficiencies.
Award for excellence in customer experience – Alawwal Bank
Alawwal Bank has been recognized for its true commitment to delivering an excellent customer experience. As one of the first customers in the Middle East to digitize its services using Temenos technology from back-to-front, this bank has embraced the essence of customer service. In fact, it installed a fully-equipped digital banking kiosk into a Costa Café so that customers can drink their coffee and handle their banking simultaneously. It is also the first bank in Saudi Arabia to enable digital accounts for their corporate clients.
Award for operational excellence – Banesco
Banesco won the award of Operational Excellence. The bank decided to partner with Temenos and embark on its digital transformation journey, leading a technology and an operational change across the whole bank. As an example, the bank has transformed entire floors of its corporate offices to create spaces that resemble the headquarters of companies of tech giants such as Google and Apple. The bank also created space and time to think differently by introducing internal ‘Technology Days’.
Award for extending financial inclusion – Seychelles Credit Union
Financial inclusion is a key enabler to reducing poverty and boosting prosperity. This award recognizes Seychelles Credit Union who, through the use of technology, has made its financial products and services more accessible to unbanked or underbanked populations. They also embraced Temenos software with speed too; the bank went live in a matter of weeks.
