Founded in 2002, Aegean Baltic Bank (ABBank) is a Greek commercial bank specializing in shipping finance and corporate banking. Modernizing the bank for the next era

As the bank grew and expanded its services, it launched a modernization initiative to enhance its existing Temenos Core platform. Led by the bank’s internal technology team, the transformation included an upgrade to the latest Temenos release and a migration from TAFC to TAFJ, enabling the bank to adopt a more modern programming language and structured database environment. The initiative introduced a more innovative architecture that improved flexibility, maintainability, and scalability while building on the bank’s strong core foundation.

The fact that the projects were delivered by the bank’s own internal team, highlights the deep expertise and operational knowledge ABBank has developed through its long-standing relationship with Temenos.

At the same time, the bank implemented Temenos Payments with TIPS integration to support instant payments and faster settlement across international markets. The initiative has significantly enhanced the customer experience by enabling near real-time transaction processing for clients operating in a fast-moving industry.

Beyond core modernization, ABBank has continued to evolve its operations through automation and integration. Leveraging Temenos open API architecture the bank has connected peripheral systems, streamlined workflows, and introduced new technologies without disrupting core banking operations.
