Overview
LedgerSwarm is the first commercial application on the Regulated Liability Network protocol and can be used for internal settlement within a single organisation, or across multiple external parties, including banks and central counterparties and facilitates all asset types.
LedgerSwarm is ledger-agnostic and can smoothly integrate with existing ledger systems without requiring them to be replaced or re-engineered. This mitigates the usual resistance to adopting new technologies within financial institutions and allows the operational benefits to be achieved faster.
Use cases include internal settlement, cross border payments, cross currency settlement, external settlement across a group of counterparties, central bank payment movements.
LedgerSwarm can enable “programable money” through a separate smart contract layer and event processor – this allows users to easily offer complex financial instruments and integrate these into their existing tech stack.

LedgerSwarm seamlessly synchronises movements across multiple ledgers, ensuring posting and settlement only occurs when all parties are agreed increasing settlement efficiency and removing reconciliation and “failed trade” issues.
LedgerSwarm employs a bespoke consensus algorithm that schedules and executes all transactions in a logical sequential order and then devising and utilising the best settlement route between the parties.
LedgerSwarm offers an unprecedented combination of speed, reliability and efficiency and has been tested a 1 million transactions per second.
