The UK building society sector is on the cusp of entering a “decade of renewal”, but sustainable growth will require the right investments in technology as well as support from other key enablers. That’s according to the Building Society Association’s 2025 report, which says the sector has the potential to grow by 7.2% a year under the right conditions.
Technology will play a central role. The shift away from rigid, monolithic systems is already happening in favor of modular, cloud-native, and API-first approaches offering greater agility and scalability.
