Barcelona, 18 May 2016, Temenos (SIX: TEMN), the software specialist for banking and finance, today hosts over 1,200 delegates at its 17th annual Temenos Community Forum in Barcelona.

The theme of the conference, “Solutions for a Connected World”, addresses a changing industry landscape where banking relationships are increasingly moving online, payments are dematerialising and where today a mobile phone is both a bank and a wallet.

Across a series of presentations and breakouts, the conference will discuss a range of questions such as how financial firms can offer the level of customer intimacy and instant fulfilment that digital consumers expect and how they can do so at the scale and with required level of security against a backdrop of rapidly rising interactions.

Helping to frame and shed light on these discussions will be a fantastic group of speakers. The keynote speaker Rita Gunther McGrath, a Professor at Columbia Business School, will speak about how financial institutions develop effective strategies for a connected world of transient competitive advantages. Bruce Rogers, Chief Insights Officer at Forbes, will share the findings from a joint study with Temenos about how technology is opening up new opportunities in the wealth management industry. Michal Panowicz, VP Digital at Nordea and Digital Banking Group’s Personality of the year, together with David Brear, CEO of 11FS and consistently voted one of the most influential people in fintech, will join our panel regarding the future of banking.

At the conference, Temenos will be showcase significant enhancements made to its front office solution to allow for much richer digital engagement. It will show the technological advancements that allow for its solutions to run faster, with greater scalability and which enable financial firms to capitalize on their data assets. It will also show progress with cloud deployment.

A range of Temenos customers and partners will be sharing their experiences to bring to life and quantify some of the benefits these developments are producing. KBC Ireland will be presenting a breakout on using APIs to power innovation. Commercial Bank of Africa will be discussing how to turn data into customer insights. Nordea Luxembourg will be discussing achieving back office efficiency with front office differentiation. In addition, Capgemini, our platinum sponsor for the second consecutive year, will be giving a keynote presentation on day two on the subject of “Driving open engagement to build customer intimacy”.

This year’s TCF will also play host to the global final of the Innovation Jam. The winners of the regional competitions in Dubai, Miami, London and Singapore will compete in Barcelona for the crown of global champion, a prize which will be decided by TCF attendees.

David Arnott, Temenos CEO commented:

“The financial industry is clearly navigating profound change. Technology change has opened up new routes to customers as well as changing business models. To capitalize on these changes, banks will need to leverage their strengths, such as trust and access to customer data, to deliver a different customer proposition. They need to move from transaction providers to trusted digital advisors. This means making use of data to serve up insights to customers. It means opening up their platforms to third parties like fintechs. And it means offering the right products, tailored to individual customers, at the right time and across the right channel. But, notwithstanding the challenges, we remain convinced that banks can prosper in a connected world and we are here to support the transition.”
