Gartner's First Magic Quadrant For Treasury And Trading Core Systems Highlights Temenos Strength
Gartner has recently published its first Magic Quadrant (MQ) for the Treasury and Trading Core Systems (TTCS) market. The TTCS MQ captures the major, global system providers which offer functionality to support the treasury and trading operations of financial institutions.
“As emerging markets develop, and a greater number of lower-tier financial institutions seek to capture customer flows and participate in the capital markets, treasury and trading core system providers are seeking to extend functional capabilities to include bank treasury requirements, such as collateral management, asset and liability management, and liquidity management.”, comment the report authors, Gartner analysts David Furlonger and Douglas McKibben.
The report identifies pure-play providers of Treasury as ‘Leaders’ in the market on the basis of their specialist support for Treasury and Trading functions. The report highlights Temenos solution capabilities for Treasury and Trading, and details our ability to consolidate treasury operations into a single integrated banking platform, highlighting the benefits arising from our recent investment in the Front and Middle office (Treasury Trader).
We are delighted that Temenos has received recognition for its ability to support Treasury and Trading as part of a complete Universal Banking solution. Temenos positioning in the quadrant reflects the fact that our functionality will suit a bank that needs to support a full range of banking operations, including Treasury and Trading, from a single platform at low total cost of ownership. For those banks seeking specialist support for Treasury and Trading, the quadrant reflects that ‘pure play’ vendors are likely to provide best fit. For those banks seeking a ‘best of suite’ solution, in which Treasury & Trading will play only one albeit important part, Temenos is positioned as providing a comprehensive solution, with all the benefits that arise from a single integrated banking platform.
Gartner emphasises that every bank must evaluate their own situation in order to select the software that will best suit their needs. Gartner does not endorse any vendor, product or service depicted in its research publications, and does not advise technology users to select only those vendors with the highest ratings. Not all vendors are included in a Magic Quadrant as there are criteria which must be passed, including product geographic spread, core functionality and market share.
David Helps, Treasury Manager, Product Strategy comments “In the current market volatility, there is more focus on transparency within the Treasury vertical than ever before. With the integration of Treasury Trader and T24, Temenos now offers real time positions, valuations and risk exposure in a single solution which will add value for existing clients and attract new business. The Gartner report shows that we are in the strongest position to provide this outside of the dedicated Treasury solution providers.”
