Key implementation of Temenos Globus™ At Julius Baer New York
Geneva, Switzerland, 26th of August 2003. Julius Baer New York goes live with TEMENOS GLOBUS™.
TEMENOS, a global leader in providing financial institutions with integrated banking systems, and two entities of Julius Baer New York, Bank Julius Baer and Julius Baer Securities (Julius Baer New York), have successfully migrated back and front office operation. This implementation constitutes a significant milestone for TEMENOS. Indeed, this project represents the first implementation of an asset manager, bank and broker dealer within an integrated multi-company environment. The focus of the implementation was to continue to work toward Straight-Through- Processing (STP) to provide Julius Baer New York with cost effective and efficient business processes. This implementation confirms the full compliance of TEMENOS GLOBUS™ (of which release 04 selected by BJB will be launched as TEMENOS T24 on the 30th of September 2003) with the demands of the US market and all U.S. regulators.
Mark Gunning, regional manager for TEMENOS North America, is running the development of our US and Canadian business. He comments: “The live implementation of such a prestigious Bank is a fantastic achievement and a complete success for TEMENOS. This new implementation will allow us to consolidate our presence in the region and we believe that TEMENOS brings unique values to Julius Baer New York by offering a fully integrated brokerage and a banking platform.”
"TEMENOS is helping us achieve our goal of reducing costs while boosting efficiency through the better use of technology, “ said Mr. Joerg Guenther, Director of Operations and Information Technology at Julius Baer New York. “TEMENOS GLOBUS™ will allow us to put more of our human capital in a position to generate revenue and improve customer satisfaction,” concluded Guenther.
These steps toward straight through processing (STP), designed in cooperation with Julius Baer New York , link multiple entities creating a near-seamless process between the brokerage activity and the financial banking operation of the organization. It is the result of careful ROI evaluations that were developed combining the business expertise of Julius Baer New York, and TEMENOS’ in-depth knowledge of the banking processes.
When a proportionally large functional enrichment is undertaken, it needs to be integrated in a complex implementation project plan that is closely managed with Julius Baer New York, as it affects the operational organisation of the entire company. At Julius Baer New York, this was achieved by involving the users at all levels of the bank's hierarchy in the planning process, integrating their requirements and priorities in the rollout schedule. “The integration of the functional development, within Julius Baer New York's vision of a straight-through- processing environment and its operational reorganisation required careful coordination involving the highest levels of both organizations”, says Malou Ducomble, Director of Client Services at TEMENOS. She further credits the success of the implementation to the commitment, dedication, and hard work of Julius Baer New York and TEMENOS people located in the United States and Switzerland, and additional TEMENOS staff in Great Britain and India. "Only their professionalism, their ability and willingness to work together could create the synergistic team that made this achievement possible,” said Ducomble.
